(162173) 1999 JU3

162173 1999 JU3 is an Apollo asteroid. It is the proposed target of the Japanese space probe Hayabusa 2.

Discovery and naming

The asteroid was discovered in 1999 by the LINEAR project, and given the provisional designation 1999 JU₃.
